FAQ

Getting started

Is Plai. on Android or web?
Not yet. Plai. is iPhone-only — we focus there because it's where voice capture is fastest.
How long can a single recording be?
Up to about an hour per entry. Plai. transcribes in the background, so you don't have to wait around for it to finish.
What if I prefer typing?
You can. Every entry can be voice, text, or both — Plai. just defaults to voice.
Do I need entries before AI insights work?
Yes — at least 3. The more you record, the more useful the patterns get.

Privacy and AI

Where do my recordings live?
On your device, and in your private iCloud if you turn on sync. Plai. does not store recordings on its own servers.
Are my entries used to train AI?
No. Transcription and analysis run through OpenAI on the backend, but content is sent without identifiers and is not used to train models.
Can I lock the app?
Yes — Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode. Authentication is required every time you open Plai.
Can I get my data out?
Yes — export the full journal as Markdown from Settings → Data → Export. Use it for backup or to feed into another tool.
